Veterans Day for the South West

Following the success of the Veterans Awareness Week in July 2005, which culminated in the celebrations of the 60th Anniversary of the Second World War, the Government has decided to hold an annual Veterans Day on 27th June.

Torbay is hosting this special event for the whole of the South West on the 15th July. This will be an opportunity to celebrate with those who have given service to the nation and with those who are currently serving.

Torbay Veterans Day has several aims:

  • To raise awareness of the age range of veterans in the community. Veterans can be any age, gender or ethnicity and new veterans are created every day.
  • Veterans contribution and relevance to life in the UK today.
  • The support and advice available to veterans from official and voluntary sources, including ex-Service Organisations

A programme of events takes place on Paignton Green Torbay on Friday 15th July 2006. Full details can be found on our Veterans Day 2006 page.
